MENTAL HEALTH DETERMINES HOLISTIC FITNESS

MENTAL HEALTH DETERMINES HOLISTIC FITNESS

A healthy life is the best gift one can give oneself in 2013. All one needs to do is follow some small tips to make big difference to life

MENTAL HEALTH DETERMINES HOLISTIC FITNESS

>> Give your partner a hug every day before work. Studies show this simple act can help you remain calm when chaos ensues during your day

MENTAL HEALTH DETERMINES HOLISTIC FITNESS
>> Have a good cry. It can boost your immune system, reduce levels of stress hormones, eliminate depression, and help you think more clearly

>> Develop and maintain strong relationships with people around you who will support and enrich your life. The quality of our personal relationships has a great effect on our wellbeing. Putting time and effort into building strong relationships can bring great rewards

>> Join a club or group of people who share your interests. Being part of a group of like-minded people and people with common interest provides a sense of belonging and is good for your mental health

A FIT BODY THAT HAS AN IDEAL BODY WEIGHT CAN MEAN A DISEASE-FREE LIFE

>> Three brisk 10-minute walks per day are as effective as a daily 30-minute walk in decreasing risk factors for heart disease

>> Drink a lot of water and cut out caffeine. No matter what you are doing, just remember to sip down a glass of water after regular intervals. Keep a jug of filtered water with slices of fresh lemon

>> Reducing fat intake, cutting down on sugar, eating a piece of fruit instead of a candy bar, over time, can make a difference. Eat more fruits and vegetables in order to give your body the natural vitamins and minerals

>> Make it a point to have mealtimes together with family (without the TV on in the background). Slow down and focus on the taste of the food and the joy of being together to discuss the day’s events

>> Eat whole foods—whether canned, frozen, or fresh from the farm—and use them in place of processed foods

>> Reject foods and drinks made with corn syrup, a calorie-dense, nutritionally empty sweetener is worse for the body than sugar

>> Start each dinner with a mixed green salad. Not only will it help reduce your appetite for more caloric foods, but it also will add veggies to your meal

>> Do a squat every time you pick something up. Instead of bending over in the usual way, which stresses the lower back, bend your knees and squat. This forces you to use your leg muscles and build strength

>> Tighten your thighs and butt muscles whenever you can; it will help firm and tone muscles

NOURISH SOUL FOR HERE LIES THE KEY TO GOOD HEALTH

>> Have an appointment with yourself daily. And for this choose one simple thing a day that you can spend time with to give your full attention. Start with something easy like washing dishes or the car, deadheading plants, folding towels, brushing the dog, running, making a sandwich, brushing teeth, etc

>> Meditate for here lies the key to spiritual strength. It is believed that the deeper the meditation, the deeper would be the healing. The relationship of the mind to the body in meditation is very interesting. They are connected to each other very intimately. The mind creates a situation in which the body is peaceful and beautiful. By creating peaceful feelings in the body, the mind is absorbed in those feelings

>> Practice breathing into the diaphragm in one minute intervals. Cleansing breath-work is an anchor to the present moment and an important part of being healthy. Breathe into the place between your ribs and navel (stop lights are a great place to practice this)

>> When the time comes, use all of your senses: sight, smell, hearing, touch, taste and intuition. Experience the object without judgment; just observe. Detach yourself from whatever you are seeing or hearing
